The Emperor's Poll
A confidential poll of people working at frontier AI labs.
By “pause” we mean temporarily restricting some kinds of AI development or distribution, agreed between major labs or countries, with defined entry and exit conditions.
Confidentiality: your email address is never stored with your answers. We keep only a one-way hash of your email to prevent duplicate responses. Raw responses are only visible to Nandi Schoots and Alex Jackson, and we will only publish results in aggregate.

How we protect your identity
- Your email address is never written to our database. The link we send you is an encrypted, self-contained pass that only our server can read, and it expires after an hour.
- To ensure one response per person we keep a keyed one-way hash of your address. It is stored in a separate table with nothing that points to your answers: no timestamp, id, or ordering.
- A response record holds only your organisation, your answers and the calendar day.
- After you submit we email you a private link that lets you edit your answers. We store only a hash of that link, so a stolen database cannot be used to read or change responses, and we cannot re-send it.
- Anyone who has access to your email can access the link.
- The site loads nothing from third parties: no analytics, fonts, or scripts from anywhere but this domain.
- Free-text answers are stored as typed. Please do not put identifying details in them.
